چکیده

Abstract A series of sulfated aluminum oxides (S-Al 2 O 3 ), investigated as an electrolyte additive in Nafion membranes, was synthesized via three different methods: (i) sol–gel sulfation starting from alkoxide precursor, (ii) room temperature fumed oxide, and (iii) hydrothermal oxide. Through the characterization S-Al by means X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), infrared (IR) spectroscopy, a higher rate found to be achieved sulfation, coordination state sulfate groups identified monodentate. By using this hydrothermally additive, composite Nafion-based membrane realized compared plain Nafion, thermal analyses fuel cell tests. Although hydration degree for undoped differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), improved retention performance upon increase operation observed electrolyte, confirming stabilizing effect acidic inorganic additive.

Optimized Slurries for Spray Drying: Different Approaches to Obtain Homogeneous and Deformable Alumina-Zirconia Granules

Spray drying is widely used for producing granulated feed materials for compaction process, which is the current industrial method for manufacturing alumina-zirconia femoral heads. The optimization of the granules compaction behavior requires the control of the slurry rheology. Moreover, for a dual-phase ceramic suspension, the even phase distribution has to be kept through the atomization step...

Polymer Electrolyte Membranes for Water Photo-Electrolysis

Water-fed photo-electrolysis cells equipped with perfluorosulfonic acid (Nafion® 115) and quaternary ammonium-based (Fumatech® FAA3) ion exchange membranes as separator for hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions were investigated. Protonic or anionic ionomer dispersions were deposited on the electrodes to extend the interface with the electrolyte. The photo-anode consisted of a large band-gap ...

Metal–Organic Framework-Functionalized Alumina Membranes for Vacuum Membrane Distillation

Nature-mimetic hydrophobic membranes with high wetting resistance have been designed for seawater desalination via vacuum membrane distillation (VMD) in this study. This is achieved through molecular engineering of metal–organic framework (MOF)-functionalized alumina surfaces. A two-step synthetic strategy was invented to design the hydrophobic membranes: (1) to intergrow MOF crystals on the al...
